The Gut–Brain

IBS Method

Understand Your Triggers. Calm Your Gut. Take Back Control.

A structured programme combining specialist nutrition therapy and gut-directed hypnotherapy for people tired of trial-and-error

IBS is more than just food

Many people with IBS focus almost entirely on food — what to eat, what to avoid, and what might be triggering symptoms.

But IBS is not just a digestive condition.

It also involves how the gut and brain communicate, and how the nervous system influences digestion, gut sensitivity, and the body’s response to stress.

This is why many people feel stuck — trying different diets, cutting out more and more foods, and still not seeing consistent improvement.

Over time, this often leads to a cycle of researching, experimenting, and second-guessing what’s actually helping.

Addressing only one part of IBS often isn’t enough.

The Gut–Brain IBS Method takes a more complete, structured approach.

Why your IBS isn’t improving — even after changing your diet

If you’ve tried changing your diet but your symptoms are still there, this guide explains why—and what may be missing.

  • Why dietary changes don’t always resolve IBS

  • How the gut and nervous system work together to influence symptoms

  • What needs to be in place for symptoms to improve

Our Approach

The Gut–Brain IBS Method brings together two of the most effective approaches for managing IBS — specialist nutrition therapy and gut-directed hypnotherapy — into one clear, structured programme.

This means we are not simply removing foods or managing symptoms in isolation, but working step-by-step to understand your individual triggers, stabilise digestion, and support your nervous system.

Research shows that both targeted dietary therapy and gut-directed hypnotherapy can significantly improve IBS symptoms when delivered appropriately.

With the right structure, IBS symptoms can become more stable, more predictable, and more manageable.

It’s not too late to regain control of your gut.

Does this sound like you?

Do you find yourself constantly thinking about your gut? Do you:

  • feel bloated or uncomfortable after eating

  • experience diarrhoea, constipation, or unpredictable bowel habits

  • worry about where the nearest toilet is when you leave the house

  • feel anxious about food, eating out, or social occasions

Many people with IBS find themselves stuck in a cycle of trying different approaches and cutting out more and more foods without clear answers.

This programme is for you if:

  • You’ve already tried dietary changes but haven’t had lasting relief

  • Your symptoms seem to be influenced by stress or anxiety

  • You feel stuck in cycles of restriction and reintroduction

  • You’re ready to address both the gut and the nervous system

The Gut–Brain IBS Method is designed to break this cycle by combining clear, evidence-based dietary guidance with gut-directed hypnotherapy to support both the gut and the gut–brain axis.

The Gut-Brain IBS Method

The Gut–Brain IBS Method is built around three core pillars that work together to help stabilise digestion and reduce IBS symptoms.

Pillar 1

Stabilise Digestive Function
£0.00

Working with a specialist dietitian, we assess your symptoms, diet, and digestive patterns to identify factors contributing to your IBS.

We identify your individual triggers and implement a structured nutrition plan using either a low FODMAP protocol or other targeted dietary approach, depending on your needs.

Research from Monash University shows around 70–75% of people with IBS experience significant symptom improvement when the low FODMAP protocol is implemented correctly.

The goal is to create a personalised plan that supports calmer, more stable digestion.

Pillar 2

Calm the Gut-Brain Connection
£0.00

Gut-directed cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy focuses on calming the communication between the brain and digestive system.

Through structured sessions, we work to reduce digestive sensitivity, regulate the stress response, and support healthier gut–brain signalling.

Clinical trials show that around 70–80% of patients experience improvements in IBS symptoms with gut-directed hypnotherapy.

Over time, this helps the nervous system respond more calmly to digestive sensations and reduces the cycle of symptom anxiety and hyper-awareness.

Pillar 3

Personalise your Long-Term Plan
£0.00

As symptoms stabilise, we focus on developing a sustainable, long-term strategy tailored to your individual gut.

This will include structured food reintroduction, identifying your personal tolerance levels, and expanding your diet safely, alongside continued support for the gut–brain axis.

Structured reintroduction and dietary expansion are key components of evidence-based IBS management, helping improve tolerance while reducing unnecessary restriction.

You leave with a clear, personalised plan to manage your gut long-term.

What’s Included?

The Gut–Brain IBS Method is delivered over 16 weeks, combining specialist dietary guidance with gut-directed hypnotherapy into a clear, step-by-step programme.

You’ll be supported throughout by both a specialist dietitian and a cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist, with each part of the programme building on the last.

The programme includes:

Specialist Nutrition Support

1 × 60-minute initial consultation
A detailed assessment of symptoms, diet, and digestive patterns to develop your personalised nutrition strategy.

3 × 45-minute follow-up consultations
Used to review progress, guide structured food reintroduction where appropriate, and develop your personalised long-term plan.

  • Personalised nutrition strategy

  • Low FODMAP approach where appropriate

  • Structured reintroduction

  • Long-term flexibility over restriction

Gut-Directed Hypnotherapy

6 × 50-minute gut-directed hypnotherapy sessions
These sessions focus on calming the communication between the brain and digestive system, helping reduce digestive sensitivity and regulate the stress response.

  • Calming the gut–brain axis

  • Reducing gut sensitivity

  • Improving pain, bloating and bowel function

  • Supporting home practice with guided audio

Throughout the programme, we address stress-related flare-ups, support nervous system regulation, and use targeted strategies where appropriate, reinforcing the effects of both nutrition and hypnotherapy. Together, these sessions provide a clear pathway to stabilise digestion, calm the gut–brain connection, and build a sustainable, long-term approach to managing IBS.

Your Questions, Answered

Still have questions? Take a look at the FAQ or reach out anytime. If you’re feeling ready, go ahead and apply.

  • The programme may be suitable for people who:

    • have been diagnosed with IBS

    • experience stress-related digestive symptoms

    • feel stuck despite trying dietary changes alone

    • want a structured approach to managing symptoms

If you’re unsure, book a free discovery call and we can work out if the programme is suitable for you.

If you have unexplained digestive symptoms or any concerning symptoms, we may recommend speaking with your GP before beginning the programme.

  • IBS is considered a functional digestive condition, meaning symptoms often vary and can be influenced by multiple factors.

The aim of this programme is to help you:

    • understand your personal triggers

    • improve regulation of the gut–brain connection

    • reduce symptom intensity

    • feel more confident managing your digestive health

Many clients report meaningful improvements in both symptoms and quality of life.

  • A referral is not required to join the programme. However, some clients choose to participate following advice from their GP or gastroenterologist.

  • For Jersey residents, in person sessions are available in either our St Peter or town offices.

The entire programme can also be delivered online.

Both nutrition consultations and cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy sessions work very well via secure video appointments. Many clients find online sessions particularly convenient, as you can participate from the comfort of your own home without needing to travel.

Gut-directed hypnotherapy in particular is often well suited to online delivery, as many people feel more relaxed when they are in their own environment.

All you need is a quiet space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.

  • The first few weeks of the programme are an important foundation. During this time we begin identifying potential food triggers and establishing a stable dietary approach.

For this reason, we recommend completing the first four weeks of the programme without travel, so that we can accurately assess how your gut responds to dietary changes.

After this initial phase, there is more flexibility. If you have travel planned, we can pause the dietary element of the programme and continue with the cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy sessions, which can be delivered online.

We will always work with you to ensure the programme remains practical and achievable within your schedule.

  • The first step is to book a free discovery call. This gives us a chance to understand your symptoms, answer any questions, and make sure the programme is the right fit for you.

If it feels appropriate, we can then arrange your first session and guide you through the next steps.
